The Four of Wands is this week’s Tarotcast card. We’ll focus on committed relationships of all kinds. These can range from business partnerships to friendships and marriage. The Four of Wands influences our commitment to others and our shared endeavors.
The Elements
The fire of the Will in its highest physical manifestation. Tempered by the gentle energy of Venus, stability and order create structure. Therefore, things are whole and complete.
The Number 4
The Fours of the Minor Arcana bring form and structure to their respective suit and element. Here is stability and nurturing for further development and manifestation. The Fours bring unification, domestication, reflection, or gestation to events and situations.
Kabbalah
On the Tree of Life, the Four of Wands card represents the formula 4. Sephiroth or sphere 4, Chesed (Mercy), the sphere of Jupiter. Materialization. In the suit of Wands (Atziluth), the archetypal world. The element of Fire; our will. Plus, Venus in Aries, equaling Completion.
Astrology
The Four of Wands represents Venus in Aries. It rules from 20 to 30 degrees Aries, or April 11th through April 20th. So, if your birthday falls on or between these dates, you’ll be feeling this week’s energy even more than the rest of us. This is fine-tuned energy. Aries drives toward achievement and success. That is best accomplished with the tact, gentleness and diplomacy of Venus.
In real-time astrology, the Sun is transiting Earth-sign Virgo. Organized, practical approaches harmonize with the energy of this week’s card.
Venus is transiting one of its two home signs, Air-sign Libra. Libra is Aries’ polar opposite sign. This transit, combined with this week’s card proves opposites can attract. We’re diplomatic and take other’s points of view into consideration. We look for win-win solutions. So this is great energy for partnerships and collaboration.

On August 30th Mercury enters Libra. It will retrograde here later in September. Before it does, it will have a positive influence on all matters of unity. This includes romantic commitments and marriage. The focus is teamwork. We play nice and we play fair.

We have a New Moon in Virgo on September 6th. We seek clarity and order. We want emotional safety and stability. Sorting and organizing bring a sense of peace. Avoid intolerance. Even in the best circumstances, life can be messy. Remember our way isn’t the only way to do things.
Shadow
Misuse, darkening or the shadow energy of the Four of Wands card includes vanity. Overestimating ourselves or our abilities. Senseless and frantic activity, egotistical self-indulgence.
Light
Let’s focus on inner fulfillment, harmonious partnership and aspiration to spiritual ideals.
Alchemy
Power colors: emerald green, spring green, sky blue and bright rose pink for Venus. Scarlet red for Aries.
Power stones: emerald, opal, jade, sapphire, lapis lazuli (for Venus). Ruby, bloodstone, diamond and garnet (for Aries). Wear these as jewelry or carry them as power stones. These will energize us while keeping us attentive to the feelings and needs of others.
Power metals: copper and iron. Choose copper for its healing and balancing properties. Iron isn’t great for wearing. Combined with copper (copper sulfate) though, the two create sparks – like fireworks!
Power fragrances: wild rose, hibiscus, bergamot, plumeria, violet and magnolia. Also, apple, vanilla and strawberry. Balance drive and strength with fairness this week for success.
Power foods: foods prepared with apple, vanilla and strawberry. Also, everyone’s favorite thistle – the artichoke. All provide the same beneficial effects already described.
