Eight of Wands: Weekly Tarotcast™ – Free Tarot Reading

5-24-22 through 5-31-22

8 of Wands

The Eight of Wands is this week’s Tarotcast card. This card represents the end of stagnation and delay. Good news is on the way and it’s coming fast – the focus is on communication in all forms this week. As far as how fast news travels? Well, time (and motion) are relative, after all.

The Elements

When the Air element inspires the Will (or the Spirit), it releases high-velocity energy. So this card is a representation of electricity and light.

The Number 8

The 8s of the minor Arcana evaluate and organize. They bring reason and communication to their respective suits and elements. The eights bring justice. Also, karmic balancing or rebalancing, order and structure within limitations and boundaries. Like the sevens, their position on the Tree of Life is somewhat weak and unbalanced. It should be noted that this card benefits from its astrological influence. Ideas or impulses rise and expand to serve a higher purpose.

Kabbalah

On the Tree of Life the Eight of Wands represents the formula 8. Sephiroth or sphere 8, Hod. Splendor – the sphere of Mercury and the Feminized Male. In the suit of Wands, the element of Fire. Atziluth, the Archetypal world; our Will or Spirit in action. Plus, Mercury in Sagittarius equaling Swiftness.

Astrology

The Eight of Wands symbolizes Mercury in Sagittarius. It rules from 0 to 10 degrees Sagittarius or November 23rd to December 2nd. So, if your birthday falls on or between these dates, you’ll be feeling this week’s energy even more than the rest of us. We’ll need to keep our eyes and ears open. Information arrives that may surprise us. Short-term and/or short-distance travel is also a possibility.

In real-time astrology, the Sun continues its transit of Air Sign Gemini. This is one of the signs Mercury rules. Mercury is currently retrograde in Taurus. As a result, some of the swiftness normally experienced with this week’s card will be slowed down, paused or otherwise delayed.

“Gimme fuel, gimme fire, gimme that which I desire. Can’t fight the need for speed…”

Mars enters Fire-sign Aries (its home sign) on May 24th. We’re courageous, competitive and spontaneous. We are single-minded and direct. The goal is to win! However, this can clash with the cerebral energy of the Mercury retrograde which is urging us to slow down or even step back a few paces.

Haste will make waste, so it’s best to rein in the relentless drive to push forward. Jupiter is currently transiting Aries too. This energy wants to take charge and accomplish things. It is “me-first” energy, and sometime “me-only” energy.

In short, this doesn’t play well with the retrograde.

Venus enters Earth-sign Taurus on May 28th. Taurus energy is sensual and we have a strong appetite for pleasure. We appreciate tangible, physical displays of affection. We crave stability and security. Avoid possessiveness and the desire to own the object of your affection.

“It isn’t nearly fast enough for you…”

In financial matters we want quality, value and practical, long-lasting items. We appreciate the natural, earthy and grounded over the ethereal and cerebral. In addition, we seek the familiar and stable and avoid uncertainty if we can. Balancing these energies with the energy of this week’s card will be a challenge.

The New Moon in Gemini on May 30th brings fresh start. Communication and thought take on fresh perspectives. We are curious and open-minded. We enjoy variety and novelty. This lunation follows the Mars alignment with Jupiter in Aries.

We ready for all that is new. Nevertheless, with Mercury, still retrograde until June 3rd, it’s better to watch, wait and see.

Shadow

Misuse, darkening or the shadow energy of the Eight of Wands includes stubbornness and recklessness. Also, over-zealousness, hasty or ill-considered decisions and superficiality can impede our progress.

Light

Let’s focus on flexibility and our own intellectual/mental power. Using our power to analyze and adjust will help us to make the most of this week’s positive possibilities.

Alchemy

Power colors: yellow, purple, grey, indigo and violet for Mercury. Blue, yellow and green for Sagittarius.

Power stones: diamond, jade, jasper, topaz, aquamarine and sapphire. Wear as jewelry or carry as power stones to enhance swift Mercury communication. They’ll also help you experience Sagittarius’s optimistic, expansive messages this week. Stay adaptable to changes in the pace of events.

Power metals: mercury and zinc. Neither is wearable. However, both are good reminders of adaptability. They symbolize the strength of good connections and combinations.

Power fragrances: carnation, iris, valerian, lilac, lavender and vervain. Stay clear-headed and mentally sharp. We’ll be energetic, vigilant and optimistic while we attend to the demands and details of this period.

Power foods: foods prepared with sage, parsley, dill, rosemary, lemongrass, mace, and mint. Or tea brewed from mint. And all provide the same beneficial effects already described.
