The Four of Disks: Weekly Tarotcast™ – Free Tarot Reading

5-17-22 through 5-24-22

4 of Disks

The Four of Disks is this week’s Tarotcast card. The Four of Disks card indicates the ways we hang on to or cling to our possessions – material and otherwise. We’re willing to work hard. We will sacrifice for our long-term goals. We may also be in reinforcing our defenses against a coming storm. This is the card of security in power. We support argument with facts. We have a good grasp of our current situation. This is a practical card dealing with practical matters.

There are benefits to being frugal and smart with a dollar – that’s the middle-ground of this card. Organization and planning can work to our benefit and prepare us when life’s storms come along. But remember, hanging on to every red cent until old Abe screams comes from a place of fear. That rarely serves us or brings more wealth our way. The Four of Disks also helps us make solid, unambiguous arrangements and agreements.

The Elements

Solar fire solidifies Earth, creating structure, order and organization.

The Number 4

The Fours of the Minor Arcana bring form and structure to their respective elements. Here is stability for further development and manifestation. The Fours bring unification, domestication, reflection, or gestation to events and situations.

Kabbalah

On the Tree of Life, the Four of Disks card represents the formula 4. Sephiroth or sphere 4, Chesed (Mercy). The sphere of Jupiter and materialization. In the suit of Disks (Assiah). The material world – assets and resources. The element of Earth – our physical bodies and senses. Plus, the Sun in Capricorn equaling Power.

Astrology

The Four of Disks card symbolizes the Sun in Capricorn. It rules from 20 to 30 degrees Capricorn, or January 10th through January 19th. So, if your birthday falls on or between those dates, you’ll be feeling this week’s energy even more than the rest of us. The Sun is a reminder of the positive strengths of this card. Guard and tend that which is of value. Attention to our resources without miserliness serves our long-term goals for building security.

In real-time astrology, the Sun completes its transit of Earth-sign Taurus. It then enters Air-sign Gemini on May 20th. Mercury is currently retrograde in Gemini (one of the signs it rules) and moves back into Taurus on May 22nd.

So, turn and turnabout is the name of the game this week. Gemini energy is Masculine (Yang), active and mentally sharp. Combining the best of this sign with the energy of this week’s card can be a challenge. Capricorn’s steady ascent to the heights requires determination as well as intellectual strength and commitment.

“All in all, you’re just another brick in the wall…”

When Mars enters Fire-sign Aries (its home sign) on May 24th we’re courageous, competitive and spontaneous. We are single-minded and direct. The goal is to win! This can clash with the cerebral energy of the Mercury retrograde which is urging us to slow down or even step back a few paces.

Haste will make waste, so it’s best to rein in the relentless drive to push forward. Jupiter is currently transiting Aries too. This energy wants to take charge and accomplish things. It is “me-first” energy, and sometime “me-only” energy.

This doesn’t play well with the retrograde. But it can serve to get us focused on our own needs and that can help us to move forward if we adjust ourselves to a slower, steadier pace.

“I’ve got the brains, you’ve got the looks – let’s make lots of money
You’ve got the brawn, I’ve got the brains – let’s make lots of money…”

Maturity and patience will help us balance the current astrological influences with that of this week’s card. Aries’ enthusiasm and drive matches Capricorn’s energy and determination. Both are Cardinal signs – driven to achieve, ambitious and hardworking.

Shadow

Misuse, darkening or the shadow energy of this card includes compulsive behavior. Stubbornness and stagnation – we are “penny-wise and pound-foolish.”

Light

Let’s focus on using material assets as instruments for good and positive endeavors.

Alchemy

Power colors: indigo, black and dark gray. Also, orange, red-orange, amber and gold.

Power stones: onyx, jet, garnet and opal along with ruby, amber and carnelian. Wear as jewelry or carry as power stones. You’ll have good judgment when determining the cost of things in relation to their value.

Power metals: lead and gold. Choose to wear the yellow gold of the Sun. There’s literal alchemy at work here – the ancient alchemists strove to turn base metal (lead) into gold.

Power fragrances: Snowdrop, heliotrope, juniper, marigold, orange and rosemary. Acacia, cedar, cinnamon, clove, and frankincense. These open a healthy perspective on what it means to have prosperity in your life.

Power foods: foods of the nightshade family (tomatoes, peppers, potatoes, eggplant). Galangal, orange, rosemary, cinnamon, clove and sunflower seeds or juniper berries. And all provide the same beneficial effects already described.
