Seven of Wands: Weekly Tarotcast™ – Free Tarot Reading
10-19-21 through 10-26-21
The Seven of Wands is this week’s Tarotcast card. This card warns us that we may be wasting our energy this week. There is a struggle going on for sure. Feelings of bravery and assertiveness against feelings of degeneration and weakness. There are challenges and obstacles galore. We may feel as if no one has our back – our struggle is ours alone, and there may not be much help or support. If we do achieve a victory, it’s likely to come through our own efforts.
The Elements
The Fire of Leo burns hot with bravery and inspiring leadership. But it can also lose itself in the heat of Martial battle, destroying everything in sight. Discipline dissolves into chaos and disorder.
The Number 7
The Sevens of the Minor Arcana illustrate the motives behind manifestation. The balance of the sixes gives way to questioning and exploration. Disruption arises from the search for the underlying causes of action. The Sevens dissolve and deconstruct.
Kabbalah
On the Tree of Life the Seven of Wands represents the formula 7. Sephiroth or sphere 7, Netzach (Victory) sphere of Venus. Illusion, imbalance, weakness. In the suit of Wands (Atziluth, the archetypal world). The element of Fire; the will. Plus, Mars in Leo equaling Valour.
Astrology
The Seven of Wands represents Mars in Leo. It rules from 20 to 30 degrees Leo, or August 12th through August 22nd. So, if your birthday falls on or between these dates, you’ll be feeling this week’s energy even more than the rest of us. Mars in Leo is ambitious and idealistic, with the ability to persevere. Valour is another word for courage. Yet, it may come across as vanity, bravado, false machismo, or senseless resistance.
In real-time astrology, the Sun completes its transit of Air-sign Libra. It enters Water-sign Scorpio on October 23rd. There is no lack of bravery in this sign. We want to delve deep and get to the bottom of things. Before Pluto ruled this sign, Mars was the ruler of both Scorpio and Fire-sign Aries.
“This is my fight song – take back my life song…”
Scorpio energy can become obsessive and manipulative. We need to remember that there are times when it’s best to withdraw from the field of battle.
“Maybe there’s a way out of the cage where you live – maybe one of these days you can let the light in – show me how big your brave is…”
We have a Full Moon in Aries on October 20th. We explore ways to honor our individuality in close relationships. We focus on leadership skills. We’re inspired by new ideas and begin new projects.
“What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger, stronger – just me, myself and I…”
This energy helps us balance our need for autonomy and our need for partnership. The Sun aligns with Mars and squares Pluto near this Full Moon. This can cause extreme intellectual and emotional pressure.
We find personal courage to take action. We are passionate and determine to overcome challenges and obstacles.
Shadow
Misuse, darkening or the shadow energy of this card includes indecisiveness. Blind ignorance. Swaggering arrogance with nothing to back it up. A mismatch between our assertiveness and our plain old good sense. If there was ever a week to choose your battles, this would be one.
Light
Let’s focus on conserving our energy. Let’s use it where it can do the most good. More, let’s realize that sometimes the most courageous thing we can do is forgo a battle – skip it. Bravery can mean walking away from a battle we’re guaranteed to lose.
Alchemy
Power colors: amber, all shades of red, yellow and deep purple.
Power metals: Mars iron and Leo gold. Wear the Leo (yellow or rose) gold to remind you of Leo’s big-hearted courage but skip the Lion’s arrogance and vanity. We can’t wear iron, but it can remind us of when to show true strength and what that looks like.
Power stones: ruby, bloodstone, garnet, amber and diamond. Wear as jewelry or carry as power stones to avoid the tendency to be hot-headed or combative this week.
Power fragrances: marigold, sunflower, wild rose, pine, and tobacco (no, you don’t need to smoke it!). These will keep us focused on winnable battles, and to make good use of our energy and time.
Power foods: foods prepared with allspice, cayenne, garlic, ginger and pepper. Also, thistle (think artichokes!) Along with beverages made from hops (beer), or wormwood (the Green Fairy – absinthe). In moderation, of course. All provide the same beneficial effects already described.
