Fortune: Weekly Tarotcast™ – Free Tarot Reading

X - Fortune

Fortune is this week’s Tarotcast card. Many Tarot decks name this card the Wheel of Fortune. We’ll be experiencing a lot of changes this week. The traditional interpretation of this card is good luck. That’s only a part of the story. This is the card of our luck – or fortunes – changing. That can mean if our fortunes have been bad, they’re likely to change for the better. But if they’ve been good, the wheel is turning, so it’s a good idea to watch out for obstacles or pitfalls. This card also represents the risk-taker; one who is willing to gamble on an opportunity. Though uncertain of the results, he or she can turn a lucky break to his or her own advantage.

The Fortune card symbolizes the only constant in our lives: change. No matter the current situation, remember that it is not forever. The Wheel turns. Cycles change and progress. All that is now will give way to new experiences, circumstances and connections.

The Fortune card also represents the Wheel of Karma. There is a feeling that events coming to pass are beyond our control. Understand that whatever is occurring is a result of our deeds and thoughts. The law of Karma operates on a different level than that of blind luck.

Kabbalah

On the Tree of Life Fortune travels path 21. It joins sephiroth or sphere 4, Chesed (Mercy) to sephiroth or sphere 7, Netzach (Victory). Its Hebrew letter is Kaph, meaning the palm of the hand. This is a fitting image for the fortune we’re born with (written in the lines of our palms). It is also the fortune we make through the things we do and the actions we take – what we create through our own efforts.

Astrology

Fortune is the planetary trump of Jupiter, the largest planet in our solar system. This is the planet of expansion – bigger, better, more.

In real time astrology, the Sun completes its transit of Water-sign Pisces on March 20th. It then enters Fire-sign Aries. The Vernal Equinox welcomes Spring in the northern hemisphere.

Jupiter is the planet of luck. Before the discovery of Neptune, Jupiter ruled Pisces. This transit brings creativity, empathy and abundance. Imagination and intuition flourish.

“Oh, wheel of fortune I’m hoping somehow – if you ever smile on me, please let it be now…”

Mercury is also transiting Pisces. We communicate with compassion. We’re more likely to feel our way through situations than to intellectualize or analyze them. Deep emotions may cause us to seek peace and quiet.

On March 18th the Full Moon in Virgo reminds us to clean up and bring order to our lives. This can be physical purging and organizing (get to those closets!) but can also be spiritual and energetic.

This lunation exposes and illuminates. We may have procrastinated about or neglected our health or other important priorities. If so, they’re back in focus.

“Circumvent the storm and let me take the wheel. There’s always been a part of me that’s been waiting for the rain…”

This Full Moon is also in harmony with Pluto. We welcome change and transformation. Or at least, we don’t resist. The revelations of this time serve our highest good and we don’t ignore or minimize them.

Shadow

Misuse, darkening or the shadow energy of Fortune includes feelings of fatalism. Seeing oneself as a victim of fate. Disempowerment and a perceived lack of control over our own course in life.

Light

Let’s focus on the positives. Here is the promise that we’ll be able to roll with life’s inevitable changes. We can gain greater awareness when we transcend polarity (good/bad, up/down, light/dark, etc.)

Alchemy

Power colors: violet, bright blue, purple and yellow.

Power stones: sapphire, amethyst or diamond. Wear these as jewelry or carry as power stones. They will keep you feeling optimistic and help you take educated and informed “risks.”

Power metal: tin. Not great for wearing, but often used to improve the strength and flexibility of other metals. So, it’s a good reminder of the powers of adaptation and transformation.

Power fragrances: poppy and honeysuckle. These scents inspire you to use Jupiter’s expansive energy to your benefit. You’ll recognize opportunities and take some intelligent risks.

Power foods: use mint, clove, cinnamon, nutmeg and sage. And all provide the same beneficial effects already described.
