The Ace of Swords: Weekly Tarotcast™ – Free Tarot Reading

4-12-22 through 4-19-22

Ace of Swords

The Ace of Swords is this week’s Tarotcast card. The Ace of Swords embodies the intrinsic powers of the element of Air. Mobility. Air’s power to inspire and disrupt. The Air element also symbolizes the mind – mental and intellectual processes. To add another layer of complexity – Swords also represent Spirit. The Ace represents our potential to define, clarify and transform.

The Ace of Swords brings us the benefits of clarity, courage and mental strength this week. This kind of sharp insight is a double-edged blade. It can cut both ways, so be sure that you’re using your power for constructive purposes. This is an ideal time to cut away dead weight and illusions, to pare down to core truths. We find ourselves in a decisive mood and we’re able to communicate complex ideas in fresh ways. This is a great week for problem resolution. Make the most of it!

The Aces of the Tarot can be a bit confusing. They correspond to the Princesses (Pages) of each suit. This connection is stronger than that with cards 2 through 10 of their respective suits. The Ace of Swords is the root source or seed of the power of Air. It has the Princess of Swords as its throne. Together, they rule the Capricorn-Aquarius-Pisces celestial quadrant. This is the area of the heavens above Earth’s North Pole, and the geographical area of the Americas. Whew! I’m glad that’s done – I bet you are too.

Kabbalah

On the Tree of Life, the Ace of Swords card represents the 1st sephiroth or sphere of Kether (the Crown, origin). Perceived through the element of Air; Yetzirah, the Formative world. The intellect, our mental processes, the thinking mind. Also, Spirit – the Divine Breath.

Astrology

The Ace of Swords holds the energy, qualities and characteristics of the three Air signs. These are: clarity (Gemini), justice (Libra) and rebellion (Aquarius).

In real-time astrology, the Sun continues its transit of Fire-sign Aries through April 19th. It then enters Earth-sign Taurus. Air is more compatible with Fire than Earth. But the grounded, practical energy of Taurus can bring a complementary, balanced and harmonious aspect to this week’s card. We are neither pure spirit or pure mind, our physical bodies exist in the material world. They are the vehicle by which our minds and spirits drive forth on our journey.

On April 12th Jupiter conjuncts Neptune in Water-sign Pisces. The connection of Jupiter and Neptune relates to our perceptions, spiritual beliefs and understanding and our perspective on life. This connection awakens compassion, kindness and divine consciousness.

This is a beneficial planetary transit. But while Jupiter builds, expands and develops, Neptune dissipates and dissolves. Therefore, we will have to navigate carefully when we the things create turn in a new direction or struggle to stay the course.

“The answer, my friend, is blowin’ in the wind…”

Mars enters Pisces on April 14th. We tend to avoid confrontation. We’re less concerned with traditional, outward directed goals. We’re more spiritually motivated and oriented. The energy of the spiritual warrior is a positive complement to the Ace of Swords.

“Pull that sword from your soul kid…”

On April 16th we have a Full Moon in Air-sign Libra. We seek to improve our relationships in this lunation. If we’ve neglected or postponed dealing with certain feelings, we experience them fully now. This is an emotional time. We look for ways to get along in our personal and professional relationships and partnerships.

“I can feel it coming in the air tonight, oh Lord. And I’ve been waiting for this moment for all my life…”

Lastly, on April 19th Sun enters Taurus. The Bull mixes sensuality with a methodical, practical approach to life and love. This fixed Earth sign has a reputation for stubbornness. This week’s Air sign qualities can lighten up and loosen up that quality.

Don’t forget that a sword is a weapon – a tool crafted to cut through any obstacle or confusion. A sword extends the power of its user to fight and prevail. It can wield a cruel force, but also a clean, sharp one. The gift of the Ace of Swords is mental clarity, truth, justice and fortitude.

Shadow

Misuse, darkening or the shadow energy of this card includes restlessness. Aggression, belligerence, premature action and limited thinking.

Light

Let’s focus on open-mindedness. The quest for knowledge. Purposeful, constructive thought. Decisive power.

Alchemy

Power colors: brilliant white. The purity of the Aces is singular. It isn’t meant to include shading or gradations. Pure white contains the prismatic colors of the visual spectrum. On a physical level, the colors of Air (sky) seen through Earth’s atmosphere. All shades of blue, gray, indigo and also black.

Power stones: diamonds or clear quartz. Wear these as jewelry or carry them as power stones for clarity. They will bring mental acuity and perceptual sharpness.

Power metals: tin and copper. These correspond to Elemental Air energy. Copper is great for wearing, tin not so much. Both are excellent when alloyed with other metals. They enhance strength, flexibility and integrity.

Power fragrances: acacia, benzoin, clover, frankincense, lavender, myrrh, pine, vervain (verbena) and yarrow. These will help us to keep a clear head and keep our actions steady, impartial and constructive.

Power foods: foods prepared with anise, lavender and lemongrass. Tea brewed from lemongrass and vervain (verbena). And all provide the same beneficial effects already described.
